What do I need to order?

A valid eyeglass prescription (written within the past 1 year) must be written by a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist.

How long will it take to receive my order?

  • Single Vision Eyeglasses: 10 business days
  • Single Vision Sunglasses: 10 business days
  • Non-prescription Sunglasses: 5 business days
  • Specialized Eyeglasses (high index): 10 business days

What is the status of my order?

Email us at orders@jackdoby.com or log into your account on jackdoby.com to view your order and see your status.

How do I order multiple pairs with different prescriptions?

Place a separate order for each prescription. You will not have any additional fees as we offer free shipping!

What will I receive with my order?

Each pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses will come in a hard shell protective case along with a microfiber cloth. These items will come in a white gift box.

How much will shipping cost?

For online purchases, we offer free regular shipping on all eyeglasses and sunglasses.

PRESCRIPTIONS:

What prescriptions do you fill?

We fill prescriptions between -10.00 and +6.00 with 4.00 of cylinder (for astigmatism). We do recommend high index lenses for higher prescriptions.

How do I get my eyeglass prescription?

See your eye doctor (optometrist or ophthalmologist). They will give you a written prescription. Your prescription must be less than 1 year old. Don’t forget to ask them to write down your pupillary distance (PD) measurement as well.

How can I give you my prescription?

Take a picture or scan your actual prescription (from your eye doctor) and email it to Rx@jackdoby.com. You can also make an appointment to see our eye doctor in our retail location.  

What is pupillary distance?

Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between your two pupils. The PD can be taken at your eye doctors office during your examination (preferable) or download this PDF to measure it yourself.

Can I get bifocals or progressive glasses?

At this time, we only offer distance and reading glasses online. However, we do offer progressives in our retail store. Visit us!

LENSES:

What's the difference between single vision and progressive lenses?

Single vision lenses: 

  • Are used for distance or reading.
  • Your same prescription is throughout the entire lens
Progressive lenses:
  • Are used for both distance and reading
  • Allows one to use the top portion of the lens for distance and the lower portion of the lens for reading  

What lenses do you offer?

For online purchases, at this time we offer non-prescription as well as distance and reading glasses. (Visit our store for progressive lenses!)

How do I clean my glasses?

  • Use a very mild dish soap with room temperature water
  • Dry them with a tissue or a very soft (non-abrasive) cloth
  • Do not use any cleaners (other than lens cleaners)
  • Do not use any abrasive cleaners or cloths or hot water

FRAMES

What types of frames do you offer?

  • Acetate: premium Italian sourced cellulose acetate
  • Metal: certified Japanese titanium
  • Combination: combines both acetate and metal (titanium)

Where can I find the size of my frame?

All eyeglass frames have 3 sets of numbers on them. These numbers refer to the width of the lens, the width of the nose bridge, and the length of the temple (arm), all in millimeters (mm). You will see 3 numbers on the inside arm (temple).

Shipping

  • For online puchases, shipping of our eyeglasses or sunglasses is free.
  • Expedited shipping is available (adds $30 to your order) - please contact us.
  • At this time we only ship to the continental United States.
  • Processing time depends upon all information being received such as your prescription and your pupillary distance (PD).

RETURNS / EXCHANGES:

What is your return policy?

We do not accept returns at this time on prescription eyewear or sunglasses.

What is your policy on scratch resistant lenses?

We have a 1 time, 30 day guarantee if your lenses are scratched. Scratches caused by accident, abuse, neglect or normal wear and tear is not covered.

INSURANCE PLANS

What insurance plans do you accept?

Due to the need to verify insurance as well as insuree, we are unable to accept insurance for online purchases. At our retail location in Garden City, we participate with Davis, Eyemed (Aetna), Local Unions, National Vision Administrators, Superior Vision (Amerigroup), UFT (United Federation of Teachers), Versant Health and VSP. If you have other insurance (not listed) and have out-of-network eyeglass benefits, you may submit our receipt to your insurance provider. Please note that our single vision eyeglasses are sold as a package and we do not break up the pricing separately into frame cost and lens cost. If you have a Flex Spending account, you can use your card to purchase prescription eyeglasses or prescription sunglasses. You may also submit your receipt from us to your Flex Plan if you do not have a card. Non-prescription sunglasses are generally not covered by your Flex Plan.

GIFT CARDS

Do you offer gift cards?

We do! We offer both physical gift cards (in our retail store) and e-gift cards (online). Gift cards are not refundable.
